Bio
Nicolas Verdoncq is an independent art director, graphic designer and visual artist. He lives and works between Tournai, Lille and Brussels. His practice stands at the crossroads of graphic design and artistic research: commissioned projects and visual explorations answer one another and feed one another in turn. He is also co-founder of Monolitt, an intimate shared collection of art and design.
He designs visual identities, posters, publications, spatial installations and graphic systems for institutions, music labels, architecture firms, cities, private companies, publishing houses, and design houses. Each project is approached with precision and restraint, in a minimalism where typography, rhythm, colour and material carry the message.
In parallel, he develops a personal body of work in painting, installation, photography, sound and video. Years of travel have brought order to thoughts that gallop. He brings back landscapes, seasons that shift the colours, forgotten industries, graffiti, sounds. What interests him is what gesture, thought and intention become over time: a material, a movement, a dialogue with human history. He explores the relationships between form, language, material, colour and space, in a practice that moves between construction and intuition.
